One down, three to go

It's the most wonderful time of the year...
Well, it's certainly that time of year. We are lucky to have a team that is so successful each year....feels like January in Pittsburgh always means playoff fever. Nobody can escape it. I'm very excited for the upcoming game against the Colts - I like that the Steelers have their backs against the wall and are underdogs...cause as we saw last year, being the favorite doesn't mean shit. I have also recently realized that I've never seen the Steelers lose when I have watched the game in my dorm room....which is actually pretty impressive. Thus, I will be watching the game from my dorm room, and I predict a Steelers win.

News of a good nature
I come to you, loyal readers, with some decently good news. I have been steadily progressing in my training, and have been quickly building strength. I have been absolutely busting my ass getting my core into shape, have become flexible enough that I can almost touch my toes, and my left hamstring is nearly back to its original strength. Hip flexor is still weak, but it's progressing. I see the doctor next Wednesday, but in my opinion, I'd say that there's a strong chance I'll be back for Queen City Tune Up.

Practice has begun
I was very encouraged by what I saw at practice on Tuesday. It's incredible to see nearly 20 people out at practice, running hard, really committed to the team. Let's hope it stays that way. Tuesday was also the first time that we tried out the whole whistling the play dead thing, and I think that for the most part, it was a very positive beginning. I'm certain that Sean, TallE, and the other more experienced players on the team won't like it too much, and may in fact find it to be a nuisance at times....but that being said, I think it will impact the younger and less experienced players in an extremely positive fashion. Weasel and I learned very quickly, however, that it is very difficult to know when to stop the play and when to let it go, but this will certainly get easier with time.

For those of you who wanna work your way into my schedule, it's now available at http://calendar.yahoo.com/dvatz
