Good news and other finals week ramblings

It is the most wonderful time of the year. Finals week, that is. I pay for not doing any work over the course of the semester with all nighters...but whatever, I guess it's worth it. I'm currently sitting in the library (4th floor, of course), listening to some Hilary Duff with Josh, and procrastinating. Did I mention that it's 2:44 am and I haven't started my studying yet for my Accounting final that's at 2pm tomorrow? Ya, all nighter number 3, here we come. A part of me really likes all nighters. I got a feeling of triumph, I daresay, when I walked into Brueggers this morning at 6am and asked, among what appeared to be a group of regulars, for my sausage egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. I reflected at the time that it's so rare that I'm even awake to see Brueggers open, since it closes at the early hour of 7pm. But I digress.

Either way, I have some good news for you, my faithful readers. I went to the doctors today. Found out a few exciting things. Firstly, I do not have a sports hernia. That is freakin awesome. Here was his diagnosis:
1) Strained lower abdominal, left side
2) Adductor tendonitis, left side
3) Hamstring tendonitis, left side
The way of fixing this, he believes, is entirely based on rehab. He did some pretty intense strength tests with me, and surprise surprise, my whole left side is weak as hell. He kept telling me "you've gotta be stronger than your doctor...if you're not, we've gotta fix that." But regardless, turns out that my left hip flexor, left hip adductor, and left hamstring are extremely weak when compared with my right side. My right side was always able to resist Dr. Stone's push, but my left side never did. Craziness. He wrote me up a perscription for a 3 day a week athletic training clinic (which will save me some $250 in co-pays). I start on Monday, and will be going Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for at least the next month. After a month, I'll visit with Dr. Stone again and we'll reevaluate everything. About my prospects for returning, he said a few things. First, he said that 90% of people will rehab this injury successfully through physical therapy. As long as I fall on the right side of that statistic, I'll get better on my own. Time frame for all of this is a bit tricky though. He said it could take 6 weeks, it could take 6 months. The determining factor for that is completely dependent on how quickly my body builds strength. He said "it'd take Woody Allen 6 months, but it'd take Anrold Schwarzenegger and his steroids 6 weeks," to which I replied "so you want me to start taking steroids?" He didn't laugh, but I was pretty proud of that one. But regardless, I get the feeling that I will fall on the shorter end of that scale, so my feeling is that it'll take me 6-8 weeks of solid rehab to get back into things. Good news for all of this is that if everything goes well, I could be back for Vegas....meaning I'd miss a grand total of 0 spring tournaments. How awesome would that be?

Oh, and as Dr. Stone was walking out the door, I said "Thanks alot, I really appreciate it" to him.
He looks at me, smiles, and says "Don't thank me yet, wait until you're better"

That is all.
